Hey all,
Would a long cable run causes freezes and pixelization on some channel? I am getting 91 for signal strenght. Or could I have a bad cable along the way? Any suggestion?

Carl, Sounds like you may have something in the way of your dish. Could your dish be partially blocked by a roof or tree? Just a thought. A cable will not cause pixelation. It's usually caused by low signal (ie. Rain fade, blockage of dish.) Just a thought.

Well, I have just noticed another thing. My Signal strength for Transponders 20-24 are way low like in the 20s while the rest of thems are in the high 80s to 90s. Could this be the freezing/pixelizing problem I am seeing on some channels? Has anyone experienced similar problem?

Carl Certain channels use certain transponders. If the signal strength is low like under 70 than it is much easier for rain or clouds to knock it down even further. Thats when the pixelation starts. I use a eliptical dish to receive from 2 sats and the signal on sat 101 is between 80 and 90 on all transponders and the channels that use those never pixelate. But on the 119 sat I dont have it adjusted for the optimum signal the strength is down in the 40-50 and the channels that use those transponders pixelate when it gets a little cloudy. I need to get on the roof again to adjust it for both sats. But Im being lazy cause there are not to many channels on the 119 bird yet. Hope this helps.

Carl, we have a dual LNB. Our dish is inside and we get high 60-70 as a signal. It is usually fine. One line goes into the Living Room Tv which is maybe a 25 ft cable. The other goes into the bedroom with a 50 ft. We have noticed that the bedroom picture 'freezes' at least once an hour. I mostly notice it because we use the bedroom signal to tape shows when we are watching something else in the LR. The LR signal only freezes when it rains or we stand in front of the dish (to barbarque!) I am thinking the longer cable has something to do with it.
