DTC-100 power button doesn't work sometimes

Hi:

My DTC-100 has a problem with the power button. When I
try to turn the box on in the morning, the power button on the receiver won't work. Neither does the remote's power on button. I have to unplug the box and then plug it back in. Everything then works fine. I can turn it on and off.

When I get home from work, the same problems appear. It may be just my box or the card that I'm using. Does anyone else experience similar problems?

Thanks,

Matt

I have noticed a delay at shutdown. The power-on has always worked, however.

Matt, My DTC-100 will stop responding to any commands and sometimes seems to be off. It requires removing power to get it return to life. I beleive the control computer needs to be reset. This only seems to happen when trying to receive a weak over the air digital station (the only kind I get). My solution was to plug it into a power strip with a switch. john

There is supposed to be a software fix/patch/upgrade coming from RCA/Thomson according to the 800 number to fix these and other problems.

My DTC100 has been telling me that a software download is scheduled for 5a.m. for the past week. Every morning I check it and it has rescheduled for the next day. Also was wondering if the fan runs continuous on yours as it does on mine. Whether the power is on or off.

My DTC-100 did get the firmware upgrade in the first week of April. My locals moved from up in the 900 channel range to the single digits. They added more dish pointing options. Also, I have the ability to turn off the grey bars now as well.

I cannot tell now if the upgrade was done or not..

Where is the option for turning off the grey bars?

The grey bars can only be shut off from the same menu that moves the rasters - something to do with holding two buttons together - I have to monkey around and try it everytime because I forget.

It is not visible in a regular menu.

Also, this reset thing is happening to me, and it didn't start until the update appeared.

Kenny,

To check for the upgrade just go into menu, assistance, upgrades, past upgrades and if your running version 40b that's the latest.

To turn off the grey bars go to the service menu by hitting info+downarrow on the console then you will see all the service options. You have to scroll down to get the grey bar option or (9) on mine.

Thanks.. Found it... I do have the latest... Still, wish they would get the turn on error fixed! Anyone found out if they have acknowledged and plan a fix?

Mine was doing the same thing, not working without unplugging first, for a couple of days and then it cleared up by itself.

Thompson Technical Support has reported the following:

It is confirmed of the scout, locking up the power circuit and a Hard boot is required to reset. This is all a firmware problem. Also the unit not taking all the local channels that most people where getting with 3.72, now have a problem of not picking them up. Thomson is looking into all of these issues. However any units not taking the upgrade to 40b, which was reported earlier, just need to be replaced.
