I have an Yamaha RX-2095 Receiver which I love. I am looking at upgrading it to 6.1 surround EX. Smart and ADA have products that will do it but I am not sure what I need to accomplish the final result. Can anyone fill me in?

i've looked at the ADA equipmentment before and it seems pretty easy to hookup. it simply connects to the rear effect output (speakers) and pulls the matrix signal from them. Check ADA-USA.com for more info.

Not for sure what your going to get from this since not too many (if anyone) is using this encoding. Hmmm why not get a Yamaha DSP-A1 and do 7.1. :)
my 2 cents. :)

G.L. Ther have been quite a few DVD's released that feature DD 6.1. Any movie that was encoded with it for theaters has it encoded on the DVD. These movies include Austin Powers 2 and The Haunting off the top of my head. I know there are more though. Check out www.dvdfile.com for more info.

the trick is to find the two versions exactly mixed the same to really evaluted them. DTS usually has overdriven rears in my opinion. It's survival in the market place might be right up there with Divx.

You could get 8.1 by taking a Yamaha DSP-A1 and connecting a Dolby Pro Logic processor to the rear outs and attaching the center output to a center rear speaker. I think any "encoding" of so called 6.1 is very overblown, since it is simply the common element of the two rear surrounds. What encoding is involved in this?

You also might want to check out www.etown.com. They go into detail on how to setup a faux DD EX system.
