It's true. My local radio shack is selling complete RCA DSS systems for $49.95. The dish, receiver, and an install kit are all included.
I'm normally skeptical, so I asked why. "Trying to increase their subscriber base" was the answer. I suspect it's also true that a much nicer more featured new model is due out soon. Anyone know the scoop?

Is there a required contract term?

I went to my local Radio Shack and the manager told me that the kit was seling for $99 and the dual receiver kit for $199 with $49 (I think) for the self-install kit.

Just checked... My local RS is still selling RCA DSS packages for 49.99. My Radio Shack is NOT a company store. It's a franchize. Because of that the owner has more discression over what he can sell than company stores do. He sold nearly 400 DSS packages right before Christmas, and because of that RCA may have given him a "special purchase" deal to sell more.
If you want a single receiver kit, ask for Neil at the Manhattan, KS Radio Shack. The number is 785-539-6151.
Tell him Dave Brown referred you. I DO NOT know if he's willing to ship, but it won't hurt asking him.
