I just got a demo Panasonic TU-hds20. Directv, off-air HDTV set top box.It came with no remote. I can do 90% of functions with a couple remotes (RADSHACK 1994 included). I cant get the all important "action" button to work. It is basically the 'enter' button, so it is a must. Any help out there? need a $30 remote which will work the unit. blemished replacement is $55 + shipping.

The factory remote is pretty easy to use and will keep you from having to futz with several remotes. And it has an Action button.
How much have you spent so far avoiding spending the $55? How much more will it take?
Two reasons the demo was reduced in price was a) to put "get a remote" into your budget and b) the dealer knew that getting a remote was a royal pain, so tempted you by price so that HE did not have to do it.

Am I thinking of another unit, or does this have keys on the front panel? How often do you have to use the Action button once it is set up?

Try the RCA RU801 or any of the RCA RU800 series remotes. Readily available for around $20.
