Is there a way to use a WebTV IR keyboard with Dish Network receivers? I would like to use the keyboard to input search criteria on a model PVR 721 instead of the hunt-and-peck method using the remote control and the on-screen keyboard.

Any help is appreciated.

Dishnetwork provides an ir keyboard for a nominal charge. It is designed for the unit so you wouldn't have to do any modifications. Call DNW and ask them about it.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen the "platinum" keyboard, but was hoping to save the money by using an existing WebTV keyboard.

Since the keyboard works with the old DISHPlayer receiver, I had hoped there was a way to use it with their new PVR receiver.

Any help getting this to work is appreciated.

The DishPlayer is a Micro$oft product, the 721 is an Echostar product. Doubtful they easily work together.
