I'm going to try using a plain-jane A/V switch and see if it affects my picture. My cable runs are short, with quality cables. If the switch is decent quality, the 2 inches of wire inside the switch probably won't be an issue. I'll report back!

For component switching I have been able to use pieces as old as a Denon 2600 with Y/C seperators (one on each input, and one on the output) and then use the S-Video and Composite Video Inputs combined to get my three pairs of conductors, some receivers will pull it off for high def 1080i but others will only operate to 480p, receivers with on screen menus usually won't work though.

Too bad Shifty isn't still around...he could've pointed you right to the "Bettercables" website. I'm sure they have some very special component cables..."Only $499 a meter!" I dare any company executive who makes $499 cables to take a simple blind A/B comparison test with his cables compared to decent $10 gold tipped cables. If he correctly guesses his cables 3 out of 3 times, then he has a good product, if not he has to pay YOU $499 and admit that he is thief.

Ah, more time wasting.
I dare anybody here to prove to me that Pepsi is better than Coke. Or that a BMW is more fun to drive than a comparable Mercedes. Or that Florida's weather is better than Minnesota's. Or that the best team always wins. Or....

There are Four things that change with cables. 1. Balanced Pair = Audio Cable 2. Coaxial = Video Cable 3. Connector type = RCA, BNC, Phone, ETC... 4. How pretty they are $$$$ Any cable will work, but the best cable for video signals are coaxial.
