Anyone getting Showtime in HD on channell 543? Or is it a requirement to have 3 LNB? If so where did you get your 3 LNB attachment? I have 2 now with my RCA DTC100

You may be right.
My neighbor has the channel and I don't and the difference... He has 3 LNBs.

He's using Eagle Aspen S-5040Y-CE Multi Switch from www.18inch.com

You need a third LNB (the "sat C kit"). Go to the AVS forum, there are several threads on this. If you subscribe to certain packages and Showtime you may be able to get the LNB free of charge.

Thanks! FYI.. Checked avsforum.com, got the scoop, called DirecTV, ordered the Sat C kit via their special whereas only have to pay shipping of about $9.00.. Cool! (though it did take two calls to get them to get the order right....)

From what I have been told the ONLY way is via the Sat C kit... Call DirecTV and they will send it to you for shipping only if you install or for around $50 with it installed..... Took me about 10 calls to finally get the order placed correctly! Warning! the reps on the phone are CLUELESS!!!

Follow up.. Got my Sat C kit, install was pretty easy. Make sure you do the following!
1. TURN OFF your receiver AND remove power from it by unpluggin BEFORE instaling/connecting.
2. After done turn receiver back on and make sure that it is set up for oval dish and 3 LNB
3. Make sure under Dish Pointing you have set to Transponder 8, 10 or 12!
If channel 543 comes in success.. If not try removing power for a minute or so then plug back in. If that does not work call directv as they need to resend so that you can get it...

Kenny makes a goooooooooood point -- always unplug the sat receiver when you are messing with connections (even the phone!) or it may just end up sitting there with its finger up its digital nose.

Especially frustrating when you are trying to aim a dish and the signal meter will not work...sorta puts a kink in your day.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Will the sat C kit fit on any 24" oval dish? I have been searching for one on ebay, but don't want to purchase the wrong piece of equipment.
Thanks,
Albert

There is no mystery , sat c lnb is the same thing as the a and b lnb.

Rsnic to you do not want to use a combiner you want an hd multiswitch.

Kabster,
I was led to believe you needed to combine lnb "c" with "b" also. If you combine them then the 4 output switch or the cheapo built into the feed horn switch will work. Your way requires purchasing a switch. Combining will be the economical solution, NO???????

kab, actually, the "C" kit ships with the "combiner", and it does mix B and C lnbs.

Look at the receiver's signal strength meters when you complete the install and set the settings accordingly. You'll see the second meter shows B+C signal strength reading.

It can be done both ways, as we have done it. The "C" kit with the combiner is good for existing installs where the wire was run during construction, and there is no way currently to run new wires and hide them.

Sat C LNB is NOT the same as A or B. It has a shorter "horn" and sits a little lower, to maximize reception on a 3 LNB style dish.
The combiner that comes with it is most likely splits the frequencies, haven't checked it with the meter, I'll try that on next upgrade, but willing to bet it's below transponder 22 for the C LNB, and above for B.
Theoretically, you could use a seperate round dish with single output LNB and combine it to an existing dual head, or even dual dish system, as long as you use the special combiner. My suppliers tell me they have no source for it, yet, by itself. Only comes with the C-kit. The only 3 transponders that register are 8, 10 and 12.
Of course, all this must used with a proper dual LNB 22khz switch, and connected to the 18V SatB input.
Oh, and I don't think the C LNB would work on a single head round dish, or not as well, because of it's size difference. But all this stuff is cheap, except for the 22khz switch. If you have that, and you're present setup doesn't allow the 3rd LNB, a C-kit with an old round dish and original LNB would work.
Last, and most obvious, (I've had a few do it your selfer's call.....) you must order the Showtime service, 'tain't free, McGee !
