Check this out:

[Link: copperbox.com]

There's also a 7 x 2 switcher by the same company, but it's $6K.

Also, check this out:

[Link: 209.248.228.2]

Click on the Component Video and Digital Audio link, item #954.

Thanks! Anyone know (I could not find out from the sites) if they are RF or IR controllable? That is a must for me!

Kenny, I think both are switched by priority settings. They're called 'automatic', so the devices feeding them should cause switching.

I still couldn't seem to find part 954 from Audio Authority from any of those vendors. For www.yourdigitalhome.com, I looked for all Audio Authority products and it wasn't listed. Nothing from the others either. And I couldn't find an order form for them on their site.

I saw from the copperbox one that it has a wired remote, but that isn't very useful if you want to integrate into a universal. The copperbox switcher can accept input from the input that's on as long as the other is off. You can also link them, but at $300 apiece, that's $600 just to switch three devices.

I'd like to find out more about the Audio Authority because it has 4 connections. I can't seem to find out the price though and I couldn't seem to find anything about the priorty settings. Where did you see that Larry?

Spidey, try this again:

[Link: 209.248.228.2]

Click on the "Component Video and Digital Audio" picture link (second item on the second line), then scroll down to the second item, which is item #954. Look around the site for ordering info.

I found out the cost of item 954 from the distributor. They said "The cost of the 954 is $197.00 + $7.50/ea. for
Product Selector Buttons (the 954 will support up to 4 products) + $4.50/ea.
for Product Selector Button Enclosures + $15.00 for a Power Supply " The product is usually used by a retail consumer electronics store and has no remote control option.

I found a better option however. Check out [Link: jvc.com] which has 3 component inputs and retails for $150 (though I've seen in for as low as $85 on shopping.yahoo). I'm not sure how it controls switching(remote, manual, or priority), but it seems like the best deal for the price.

Looks good.. BUT.. It looks like you have to manually press a button to do the switching.. Is this correct? OR is it auto sensing or IR?

[EDIT] Looking further I think what may be a good choice would be: [Link: shop.store.yahoo.com]

WHile it is nto made for HD you could use an Audio jack for the other input...

Kenny, the Audio Authority unit is made for a display unit like you'd see in an A/V store, where you push a button for each component. I didn't realize that when I found it, but I'd bet some ingenuity could automate the selection process.

The Sony unit is intended for composite video and audio, and not the bandwidth required for HDTV signals, especially in the audio side. There are people here who are concerned that receivers with switching that IS designed for HDTV won't provide passthrough without signal degradation.

Just checked Hometheaterspot.com and there are many there doing what I described using

[Link: shop.store.yahoo.com]

and say it works fine with no degradation! WOO HOO! I am going to get one and let all know since I got the HD pack for my XBox yesterday.
