This is completely MAD can someone help ???? Please , my Linn Kairn pre amp , remote control does not work WHEN - my SKY + HD Box , goes from stand by mode into active mode , put the Sky box back into stand by and the Kairn remote stops !! , I have disconnected all the cables from the Sky box so there is no physical connection what so ever , and it still happens , the Kairn is just an infrared beam type device - surely the Sky box does not emitt any blocking signal ??? I listen to all the tv via the Pre Amp so it's a bit annoying .... Anyone any ideas .....???????

Thanks very much Roy

IR remotes control systems can be interferred with by other sources of IR.  For example, many plasma TVs emit enough IR to confuse other components.  In such a case, blocking the path of the offending IR from the IR eye in the non-responsive unit usually helps.  Note also that IR can be reflected from many surfaces, so if one component is emitting IR, you have to think of any paths that would bounce back,

So is your Linn Kairn able to see some part of the SKY box?  Glass doors in front of both units?  Is the problem actually your TV? Try turning it off before switching the SKY into standby.

Cheers 3 fg , problem solved , thanks .... Covered the IR sensor with a piece of sticky tape and kitchen roll , hey presto it all works ... I think the signal is getting deflected by patio doors , thought I was going mad.

Thanks Roy
