Currently I use my Home Theater panasonic sa-pt753 to watch DVDs. My remote broke so I purchased a cheap one at Target the other day. Problem is, I have no idea what component a Home Theater is considered! I have cycled through Audio, DVD, and AUX and had little luck. Only the Audio component button would power down the receiver but not turn the power back on. Help!

and btw, husbands who program remotes with their wives in mind are awfully nice guys :-)

Usually, a home theater system would be considered an Audio code, but there is no rule. Tell us the model of remote you have. Maybe we'll know something about it.

I do know of a class of remotes which are capable of controlling your HT, although some functions might require entering a 5 digit EFC to customize the individual buttons. A few may require experimentation, because Panasonic HT systems use slightly different IR signals among their various models. For example, the RCA RCRP05B (<$20 at Best buy, Walgreens, etc.) can be made to work.
