Hi All,

I'm new to this site and recently bought a MX-980. I'll get right to the point. After getting my devices working with the IR codes, I hooked up my MRF-350 and RFX-250 modules and had no trouble getting my Denon receiver and Logitech squeezebox working in RF mode. However. my %#$@^%$%& Motorola DCT-6412 does not work at all using RF.

Does anyone know if the 6412 will work using RF? My apologies if this question has already been anwsered, but I checked the forum and did not see a definitive answer.

Thanks
David

Your Denon receiver and Logitech Squeezebox are not communicating over RF. They are still being controlled using IR. The RF communication exists only between the remote and extender. Your remote is simply sending the IR signals over RF to the extender. The extender is then outputting the IR signals to your equipment via either the front blaster and/or IR outputs. That being said, if your Motorola DCT-6412 is not working via the IR output of the extender I would suggest checking the placement of the extender and/or IR emitter running to the Motorola DCT-6412 to ensure optimal placement. If you are running an IR emitter cable the IR receiver of the Motorola DCT-6412 could be getting flooded. A forum search on "IR flooding" will provide you with a number of forum posts on the subject which may prove helpful.

Sorry, but I believe you misunderstood. I stated that the Denon receiver and the Logitech are working just fine using RF. I even have the Denon receiver and the squeezebox programmed to respond to only RF signals and that's works great. It's the Motorola DCT-6412 that does not work using RF. I have repositioned the  extender and there is absolutely no interference. I believe that the issue is with the DCT-6412 since the other pieces of equipment are working ok. I will take a look at the posts for the IR flooding, although I doubt that is the issue. Thanks for your reply...

Mystery solved...The RF problem was solved with repositioning the emitter on the face of the DCT-6412. It works fine now.

Cheers...David

You did not have an RF problem. It was an IR problem. Again, the only RF communication that is happening is between your remote and extender. The remote is sending the IR signals over RF to your extender. The extender is then outputting IR (not RF) via the front IR blaster and/or the IR outputs. I suggested that you check to ensure the extender's IR blaster and/or IR emitter running to the DCT-6412 was optimally placed as to ensure the DCT-6412's IR receiver was successfully receiving the IR commands sent by your remote via the extender. Great to hear repositioning the IR emitter solved your issue.
