I have Comcast cable service and use the Comcast standard remote (Silver body with red Select button).
Since Xfinity came to be, I can't/shouldn't turn off the cable box while a show is being recorded.
On my way to bed, I usually press the "All Off" button.
The TV goes off before the "I'm recording" message is seen.
The cable box stays on to record.

In the morning, the "All On" button turns the TV back on but; the cable box goes off because it was on all night.

All that for a short question. Can I un-program the cable button so the box stays on all the time?

Yes it can be reprogrammed. We'll do that by changing the power signal for the cable box to one that doesn't do anything. But we need to know which setup code you're using now. Use the 990 command (shown in the instructions) to blink back the setup code if you don't already know it.
