i have an optima es522 projector but no remote, i can get an OEM replacement at an inflated price but is there an inexpensive remote that will do the job? thanks in advance. HCHACKENBUSH

I assume you mean Optoma instead of Optima. I don't know about the ES522, but most Optoma projectors use NEC1 IR protocol, device 79.80.

The Radio Shack RS 15-133/134/135 provide a working setup code (TV 11673) for that IR protocol, and if you find one of these at a RS store, the cost is $0.97!

Some other remotes which shoot the similar NEC2 signal (some buttons might not repeat when you hold the button down) are Altas remotes used by several cable companies, the Cox 7820B, OneForAll 8820N, RCA RCRP05B.

Why not email Optoma and ask them for the IR protocol, either the NEC format or as a Pronto Hex list?
