I have this Pioneer receiver and am trying to reconnect it after not using for awhile.
Have everything connected and now following the manual to set up the speaker volumne etc. Most buttons on the remote work, but the RCV button with the green circle around it. I am sitting close and the batteries are good. Is there something I need to do in order to use this button? Should I just get a new remote? Thank you!

I've had a brief trawl through the manual (I've no personal experience of Pioneer receivers) but cannot find anything to suggest there is a procedure to "activate" the RCV button.

By way of "most buttons on the remote work" do you mean they all do (other than RCV) or are there others that are suspect?

A simple means of checking whether the ir diode is working is to look at it through a digital camera; press a button and the diode should illuminate with a purplish light. But of course, even if it does illuminate it doesn't necessarily mean to say it's sending the right code, or that the receiver is seeing it correctly.

Perhaps the only alternative is to try a replacement remote. Pioneer have them here, though this supplier is slightly cheaper.

Thank you, I was thinking of replacing the remote. Will a new, or used remote have to be programmed to work with my receiver? Thank you for your fast reply.

Depends on what you have in mind. The links above are for the remote that's actually supplied with the receiver; arguably the easiest/simplest solution; should work straight out of the box. Universals, on the other hand, may come with some codes, but they'll almost certainly not cover all functions of the original, which means learning, and if your remote is suspect . . .

thank you! I found a used remote, same as the original. Hoping it will work with this receiver, otherwise I will just buy a new receiver. Thanks again, i appreciate all the info on this site.
