I'm no pro at this stuff, and went searching for an answer. I've been reading through historical forums and can't find a solid answer to my question:

I recently bought a Harman Kardon AVR247 receiver. I would like to you that remote to utilize all of my other components. I have gotten codes for all components with the exception of my Dish Network receiver. It is the Vip622 model and has the Echostar 5.0IR remote.

The Harman Kardon manual came with several Echostar codes, none of which work with Dish Network receiver. I've also been hammering away at the scanning/ trial and error method to no avail.

Some of the other forums mention that the Dish Network receiver needs to by in IR mode, which I checked, and it is.

Any other ideas / codes? I would appreciate your help.

Dish receivers have 16 remote addresses or unit codes, so you have more then one receiver in a given room. The only address preset into many oem & universal remotes is address #1, so if your receiver is set to one other then #1, the preset codes won't work. check your manual on how to switch addresses.

Which receiver is supposed to be set to #1? The Dish Network receiver or the Harman Kardon receiver?

I'm guessing that both receivers default to #1 and that is why I am unable to get my Harman Kardon remote to work for my Dish Network receiver? If this logic is correct, you are suggesting I check the Dish Network manual to switch the Dish Network receiver address? Or do I have this backwards?

Thanks for the help

I plainly said that DISH receivers have the 16 addresses. I never mentioned HK.

The HK has preset codes for Dish receivers, they're most likely for dish receivers set to address #1. So you need to go into the dish receivers manual and find out what the address your receiver is actually set to, and then switch it to #1.
