I have an RCA model #20F510TD flat screen tv with built in dvd player. I am also a direct tv subscriber. I am trying to program the direct tv universal to work with my tv but I am having no success in finding the proper code for the tv. Does anyone know the proper code to use with this tv? I have had no success with direct tv or Rca. I am guessing the tv was manufactured by someone other than RCA. Any help or info would be greatly apprecaited. The direct tv universal remote is model#rc23.

The problem is that tv/dvd combo use the codeset of the dvd portion of the combo, so searching tv codes fails. Try the following: program dvd code 21022 to either av1 or av2 device slots, to get the vol do the following:

1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press SELECT

If that code doesn't work, try searching dvd codes but not for power, but by Vol instead:

1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-1, wait for two blinks
4. enter 2
5. tap VOL UP and release
6. with the remote pointed at the TV which should be on
7. keep pressing and releasing the CH UP key, if and when the tv vol changes
8. press SELECT to lock in code

To punch through the VOL to all devices:

1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press SELECT

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried everything that you mentioned in your reply. It stlll doesn't work. I know the codes are out there but the tv will not respond to the direct tv remote. It works with my harmony remote but the harmony has its drawbacks and quirks. I even tried a blind search using the dvd codes and still no joy. The only other code list that is similar are the vcr codes. Alas the tv does not have a built in vcr. It only has the dvd. Thanks again!!

Have nothing else to try, one thing you're not trying the code and above steps on the TV device key are you? You shouln't be, you will have to abandon the tv device for the av1 or av2 device slots.

I tried the codes on the av1 but not av2. I tried the dvd codes and not the tv codes yet on av1. The tv has a dvd specific device slot, I dont know wether that makes any difference or not. Should I try the dvd codes on av1 and av2 or the tv codes? The device slots on the tv are as follows: S-Video, DVD and av3. You mentioned that the tv codes will probably not work. Should I stay strictly with the dvd codes on av1 and av2? Again thanks for your help, this is very frustrating.

when I mention slots, I'm refering to the rc23 remote and its device selector at the top of the remote. All my directions are for the rc23 remote only. In the rc23 remote, dvd & vcr codes are grouped together,so it doesnt matter if you use AV1 or AV2. When I said to abandon the tv device, I also mean tv codes as well.

Give code dvd code 21071 on either av1 or av2 devices on the rc23 remote, With any tv code programmed to the tv device, do the following to get the vol:

1. av1 or av2 whichver has code 21071
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press SELECT

Still wont work, tried the last advice you gave to me in both av1 and av2 in the direct remote and nothing works. About the only thing I managed to do was to screw up the direct remote and had to reset it. I dont think anything will work with the direct remote. I think maybe it has to do with the program info flashed on the receiver. I am getting a new receiver(D-11) monday or tuesday and will give it a try with the new receiver. Thanks for your help.

P.S. I found out with a lot of searching that the remote for the RCA 20F510TD is not an RCA remote. From what I can tell it is made by Polaroid and the model # is KK-Y284B. Dont know if this makes any difference or not. I cant find a lot of info on the original Polaroid remote.
