My Marantz RC1400 controls most of my Dish Network functions using the perset manufacturer code built into the remote but when I try to teach it from my Dish Network 3.1 IR remote it will not learn any functions. I have tried teaching it the view button, cancel button, even just the power button but it does not learn. The screen says OK as if it has learned the function but it does not work. The manual says it can learn from 14kHz - 70 kHz. I believe the Dish Remote is 57kHz. Anyone have any ideas? The Dish Network Box is a 311.

It took a while but I figured it out in case anyone else is interested. I noticed that when I tried to learn from the Dish Network 3.1 IR remote, the Marantz RC1400 was learning a very lone signal. You could tell but the transmission indicator on the screen. The signal it was learning lasted about 10-15 seconds when you pressed the button that was taught. All other buttons that worked just put out a very short burst.

Thanks to the Tips and Tricks section on this web site I decided to try a couple of things. When I tried the Duck Blind method I noticed that the signal learned was now a very short burst instead of the very long signal as before but still did not work when I pressed the button on the RC1400. It looked like progress anyway.

After several tries (5 or 6, I almost gave up after 4) using the Duck Blind method the RC1400 finally grabbed the proper signal. Just to make sure it was not a fluke, I programmed a second button from the Dish Network 3.1 IR remote into the RC1400. This button also took several tries, using the Duck Blind method, but I eventually got it.
