I have a Philips DSX5600 receiver with the remote which will control SAT/TV/VCR/DVD. The problem is that it just stopped working for the SAT controls! It still works perfectly to control TV, VCR, etc, but not the SAT (which is obviously the most important!) When I press the SAT button, it lights, but then ignores every other button pressed (normally the SAT button blinks whenever another button is pressed) until I select a different device.

Does anyone have any clue why this would happen?

Is this truely a philips remote, or are you using some kind of universal? This wouldn't be white remote, like this:

No, it is black. I can't find my digital camera right now, but it actually has the PHILIPS logo on the remote. A little white sticker inside the battery compartment says RC19041003/01 if that helps. Anyway, the really weird thing is that the very same buttons (for example, the CH+/-) work just fine when in TV mode, but won't work in SAT mode.

You might have changed the remote address of the receiver or the remote itself? I never owned standard philips receiver, if you don't have the manual, you can download it off of www.directv.com

Changing the remote address is a two stage process, receiver and remote, if only one was changed they will no longer communicate with each other. Directions are usually at the back of manual.

I had this problem on one of my Philips remotes. There is a holdover capacitor on the circuit board that keeps the memory intact while you change batteries. On mine there was apparently some bum information in the logic circuitry, probably glitched by a static pop to the remote. You will have to re-program your TV back into the remote after this.

There are two ways to fix it. You can remove the batteries, open the remote, find the capacitor (if you're familiar with electronics this won't be a problem, there is only one good sized capacitor on the circuit board). You can short out the two leads on the capacitor and it should reset and allow you to use the sat portion.

The second method is to take out the batteries and leave it for about a week. I'm not 100% sure this will work, but the first method worked on miine. Good luck!

You can drain the Cap by touching both ends together. I have a couple of these, how do you program it to operate a pansat 2500A?

You want to reprogram a sat oem remote for another brand of sat, can't. And Directv universal remotes only have codes for directv receiver models anyways.

and speaking of which, that white Directv remote is a piece of crap. If I wasn't living off my sisters account (I'm the third TV and pay her $5/mth - such a deal) I'd let Directv know all the problems I'vehad with that white remote. All I had was trouble which is why I have the one I have listed in above postings. Also, My Directv manual has no codes in it for the receiver. Since they give you a remote already programmed for the TV I guess they see no reason to give you any codes. That's my problem and the code I'm looking for.
