I have been looking into both of these remotes and I don't know which one to get. Both are around the same price of $100 (through some of my connections). I have 6 components I need to control. Starting with:
Toshiba Cinema Series 27" TV
Toshiba SD2109 DVD
Kenwood VR-209
Pioneer PD-F606 CD changer
Sharp VC-H948 VCR
RCA DRD222RD 4th. gen. DSS Reciever

I tried to use the remote that came with the Kenwood receiver that has macros and all that stuff, but it won't control my DSS channels. I do NOT want this to happen with a $100+ remote.
I refuse to buy a Marantz!! So anyone have a suggestion on what I should do? Please respond.

It really depends on what you like. The 'coolness' factor goes to the Rotel, but the SL-9000 wins in practicality with the physical buttons. If you like the touch screen, go with the Rotel. If you want buttons, go with the SL-9000.

It really doesn't matter to us which type it is, we just want something that WILL work as good as the original remotes. I have heard good reviews about both, but the Rotel had a bad review with the channels not working right on the TV. It said that it would scan down but not up. I have that same problem with the Kenwood remote, which also only uses the '2' '4' and '6' buttons. I can get the Rotel for $100+s/h which is a steal but still more than the HTM SL9000 at $101 shipped from e-town. Just not sure what to do. What would you buy out of these 2? I know you will say a Palm Pilot, but that is out of our price range.

HELP!!!

Go for the SL9000. It will work as well as the original remotes. It will control your DSS as long as the DSS receiver accepts IR commands, not UHF. If it is one of the older ones that accepts only UHF, really none of the universals will work.

I've head rave reviews about the Sl-9000. If I were you, I'd get that. Supposed to be an excellent remote.

I just ordered the SL-9000 from Worthington for $87.89. Find them at www.worthdist.com you won't see it on thier web site but can request a catalog there and their phone numbers are there. Thanks to Daniel Tonks for this site and the response to my email regarding this remote. I should recieve it Thursday.
