I don't know what the frequency range of the EAD is, so I can't comment on if those codes can be learned at all. But a few things you might want to try are:
1) If you're programming with the PC software, learn the buttons on the remote by itself. Or vice versa.
2) Try changing the distance between the two remotes as you learn (real close to a foot away).
3) Replace the batteries in the EAD (it may appear to properly function but may in fact be too erratic to learn from).
4) Try learning in a dark (or darkish) room.
5) Instead of "holding" the button, just press it once. Or vice versa.
6) Place a magazine between the two remotes. Then, while pressing the button on the original remote, remove the magazine midstream. This works sometimes.

Ugh, base band pulse. Doesn't sound like something that's going to work this this remote or any other learning.
