My Go-Video and Samsung VCRs use the same IR frequency and it doesn't appear that either of them can be changed that I know of (and Go-Video tech support says that's true). So, I was planning to just block the IR port of the Samsung which is the one I don't use that much so it doesn't always turn on when I use the Go-Video. It would be nice if th block were removable for the times I do use the Samsung to play PAL tapes. So, stupid question is how to block the port?

thanks

Small rectangle of black electrical tape will probably both work and look the best (assuming your VCR has is generally black around the IR sensor area like most others).

I only have blue electrical tape, but 5 pieces didn't do it. Nor did taping a quarter over it with 5 pieces. Other things to try?

Then you're not putting the tape in the right place. IR is light, and light cannot pass through solid objects, including electrical tape.

Another option is to stand a book or something in front of the player than you don't want to control.

Well I can see the sensor. It's in with the rest of the plastic-covered display of the indicator lights though. So, I guess it's relected and sneaking in at an odd angle through the display. And the manual calls it IR not RF. I think I'm going to have to just put it on it's own switch and just leave it off when not in use. It won't be easy to reach the switch but easier than covering the entire plastic display.

Thanks all.
