Ok all I need is a cheap remote that can program my vcr. All I need to do is set the time and then the times i need to tape certain shows. I dont need to do anything else with the remote. Is this possible? Please help me. thank you.

Most any remote should work, but it would help if we knew the exact model number of your VCR.
Not knowing where you are located doesn't help us much either. If you can get to a Walmart, you could try the OneForAll 8810W, about $18, and if it doesn't work you can take it back.

I would recommend that you stick with the One For All brand because that way, even if the remote doesn't have a MENU button (or the MENU button doesn't work) you can probably re-program it using advanced codes.

the VCR is a Sharp, model # VC A5240. It's a little old but works fine. Thanks again for the help.
