From lurking here in the past, I purchased an MX600 a few months ago for the HT. While it is very impressive, I think I overbought... I only regularly use it for DVD and the receiver. Apart from turn-on, eject, and turn off, I only use the volume function for the receiver and the usual suspects on the DVD, nothing fancy. Occasionally I will also use the HDTV STB, which involves just channel-changing 99% of the time.

A friend has shown interest when I indicated I might want to sell the 600. I also need a simple remote to control 2-3 components in the other system: a cd player, receiver and a Squeezebox (music server).

I think both remotes will need to be learning style as my dvd player was not fully picked up by the 600, and the Squeezebox will also present a small challenge.

What would you recommend that I can get two of to meet my needs, considering I am certainly not a 'power user', and save some $ in the process that I can put to other things?

I saw where Amazon has the URC-8811 and the 6131 bundled for only $32! Obviously I would be giving up a few things, but as a relative novice maybe you can tell me if these are more suitable to my needs.

Thanks much.

I would consider either an MX-500 if you liked the Mx-600 (assuming you dont need the RF function. It is the most remote for the money right now.....probably about $80......or actually, you are correct a one for all is truly the most cost effective, but I still like the LCD buttons on the MX series, which truly allow you to remember what the heck you programmed where (which was the age old problem with your lesser used functions that still would make me drag out my old native remotes on occasion before I bought the MX). (and if you want to splurge.......perhaps an MX500 with an 8811, and depending on your desires, you can pick one up bundled with a JP1 cable, for probably half what you spent on the mx 600.
