Hi all,

I could really use a hand picking a remote. My setup is not complex, but it it is to teh point where I really need a true universal solution. I currently use a Radio Shack 15-2104 that I picked up a couple years ago on sale for $10..... Its a great remote for what it does, and really.....who can beat 10 bucks???? It works, but it is nowhere near intuitive and im the only one that can remeber what buttons do what in which mode... I really need an inexpensive remote that can control all of my equipment, while making sure that my wife can watch a DVD when she wants to. Here is a list of my equipment.

Phillips 64" big screen (Non HD $@#%^&!!!)
Pioneer DVD Player
Scintific Atlanta Explorer 8000 digital PVR Cable Box
Onkyo HT-R520 receiver (Part of the HT-S770 HTIB System)
X-10 Home Automation.

By no means an expensive or complex system, but with 3 kids Im lucky to have that.

If anyone has any suggestions as to a remote that will serve my purpose, yet keep it simple to opperate, Id love to hear them.

It depends on what you want to spend.

On the low end, you could probably get away with one of the better one for all remotes.

In the mid range, perhaps a MX 500 (about $90)

and on the higher end, perhaps a MX 650 or 850. Many of the touchscreen remotes can also do these, but I am partial to buttons.

I think that brings you to the MX-500

the OFA as mentioned above will have the same problems. The MX-500 (or one of the other remotes from URC) it has several LCD labelled buttons that you can rename

an other option might be one of the Harmony remotes
