I've recently purchased an MX-700 and I'm generally very happy with it. However I find the backlighting not very useful in a dimly lit environment.
As I enjoy my entertainment in dim ambient light, I find that the contrast of the LCD is not all that good, making it difficult to see unless its totally dark....I've already adjusted the contrast to maximum. In my opinion it may have been a better design decision to have had backlighting with black text on a pale green background.
I don't suppose there is any possibility of a firware upgrade to make it an option? Even in daylight when the backlight is off, it can be quite difficult to read the LCD.
On another topic........it seems that the IR database supports few items not available in the USA. I have 3 products, 2 from China and 1 from Australia, not listed in the database. Just as well it learns well!
