I can't get the MX-500 to learn the volume +/- or Muting for my Sony Str D990 audio receiver/amplifier. I selected on of the preprogrammed codes (018) that gets me on/off, selection of source, can channel +/-, but no volume or muting. I go through the learning process to teach it these functions and everything looks like it's working. I.e., when I press the Vol + on the MX it says "Ready", and when I then aim the Sony remote at it and press Vol+ it says "Good" But then when I go back to Main/Audio
the Vol+ still does not work. Ditto for Vol- and Mute. One clue is that when pressed these buttons DO NOT show the the little "emitting" icon at the upper right corner of the LCD.

FYI, I recently sent the MX back for reprogramming, and asked them to restore everyting to factor standard settings, thus erasing all prgramming and customization doe by the previous owner. Since then I have attempted to get to to emulate the remote for my Hughes DVR and Mitusbishi TV, with limited success. When doing the DVR I tried to teach it how to control some other devices from the DVR by Learning from the DRV remote, which itself "Learned" the functions from the original remotes. I succeeded in getting it to turn the TV on and off this way, and probably tried to get it to learn the Audio vol+/- the same way, but it didn't work. I assumed that was because I had yet to teach the MX how to control the Audio.

What am I missing here?

Thanks. I'm still green on these fancy remotes.
