Ive just bought a 27" Sylvania TV from a pawn shop but it didnt come with any remote. THe model number of the TV is 6427TD.
I also bought a RCA universal remote, model number RCU300TMS.
After some time i finally found the right code to program the remote for the TV and the power, chan, vol, mute buttons all work fine. THe only problem is that i cant figure out how to get to the input channels to use my playstation 2 or access the menu with the remote ( the menu button on the remote doesnt seem to work and it wont light up the indicator light). The TV has the red, white, and yellow inputs in the front and in the rear but no button on the TV to switch to my inputs. I tried all the channels and also "00" but none of them seem to work. I can access the menu with a button on the front of the tv but still cant find anything to switch to inputs. I can only guess that an input button is on the original remote. Will a better uni remote help me to fix this? THanks

Most definitely, anythings better then a RCA remote. I suggest a one-for-all remote.
On the RCA remote, what is the code listed for a Sony Tv, so I can find the right code list, and what is the code used for your Sylvania Tv?

on the code list for the RCA , sony tv is 002 and 218.
The code i found to work on the Sylvania was 218.
Is a One- for- all remote a brand name or a type of univeral remote? what kind of features should i look for in another remote?
thanks

Yes the One-For-All is a brand, it accepts 3-digit codes(advanced codes) for individual functions, like VIdeo 1 or VIdeo 2. depending on the setup code. These advanced codes for a sony Tv. I'll see whats available for the sylvania code, if I can find it tomorrow.

And also I found a website to order a replacement remote for this exact TV that has an video input toggle button on it and since I only need to control just the TV (not actually needing a universal) , i may just order that. its around $20 i think. thanks again

RCA TV 189 translates OFA Tv code 0171, these are the advanced codes for Tv 0171. For under $20 you can get the OFA urc-6131. On sale now is the radio shack 15-2142, its $10. But if do get the RS 2142, the advanced codes in the above link need to have two zeroes added to the front of each of them. So instead of 098, it will be 00098.
