What about time-absorbing process of programming?
Like anything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. My ideal remote would let you use simple 4-digit codes which would get most of your devices up and running (which most functions supported), but for those users that insist on their remote controlling ALL functions for ALL of their devices, the PC programming method would allow that.

Do you need macros often?
You bet! These macros save you time over and over, plus they make things simple for the non-techie members of the family.
Btw, in case you hadn't already figured it out, I wasn't describing a fictitious remote in my previous reply, I was describing the remote that I'm actually using.
