I recently found a 3M MP8650 projector in a dumpster and when I took it home, to my surprise it still worked, however the convergence is slightly off and i'd like to reset it, but unfortunately the only way to do this is with a remote, which I do not have. I have 2 universal remotes, both RadioShack - 5-in-1 Smart Remote Control 15-2103, and a 6-in-1 Kameleon. I don't see any codes for 3m in either of the manuals and when I try to use the automatic code finding features, it doesn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could get one of the remotes to work with the projector? Or possibly another universal that would work or even a place to buy the original 3m remote? Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

You should be able to use TV/0145 for this. Power and volume are covered by the built in buttons, arrow up/down should work the zoom, and arrow left/right should work the focus.

In addition, you can use these advanced codes to program the remaining functions:

123 RGB
213 VIDEO
023 Blank Screen
165 Reset / Right Mouse
043 Timer
038 Arrow Up
107 Arrow Down
228 Arrow Right
232 Arrow Left
234 ok
196 Magnify Off
200 Magnify+
198 Magnify-
075 Menu
205 Mouse Up
209 Mouse Right
207 Mouse Down
211 Mouse Left

I gave this a try, using the 0145 code on each of the two remotes i have and it doesn't seem to be working. Any other ideas? Also how do you program advanced codes like the ones you listed? Thanks.

The codes I posted were for models MP8630 and MP8725, so I'd be surprised if your MP8650 uses a different code set. I have confirmed that the TV/0145 code is in both the 15-2103 and 15-2133 remotes, so if you correctly programmed that code and got no reponse when you tried the POWER button, I suspect that the infrared receiver in the projector is broken.

As for your other question, go to the "advanced code" section of my web site for more info.

Hi ,I have one of these projectors and also have no remote. This projector has different codes to the MP 8630 as the remote functions in a different way. You select the function with one button then increase or decrease its adjustment with the arrow keys. Not individual up and down keys for each function. Not all 3M projectors were manufactured by the same company. The cct boards in the MP8650 are manufactured by fujitsu. I am looking for these codes also so I hope someone can come up with an answer.

I have found the codes for this model. It uses the Sharp protocol with a device code of 13, which matches three One For All/Radio Shack TV codes: 0220,0491,0851

Unfortunately, those codes are in very few remotes, so you'll need to get them loaded via an upgrade. I don't know if the button codes for any of those codes match the 3M though, so if you do get them loaded and they don't seem to work, try these advanced codes:

126 BLACK SCREEN
204 CHECK
199 CURSOR DOWN
098 CURSOR LEFT
157 CURSOR RIGHT
203 CURSOR UP
047 DATA1
049 DATA2
093 ENTER
132 LENS
027 MENU
077 MUTE
073 OFF
097 ON
048 VIDEO1
044 VIDEO2
079 VOL DOWN
083 VOL UP
