I have an older(10yrs maybe?) model Sony stereo that I lost the remote for awhile back. I have seen them online at around 32$ and up. I don't want to spend that for a old stereo. How can I find a universal or Sony brand remote that will work with it. I have purchased universals b4 and they don't have codes for stereo's, usually receivers, ect... The model of my stereo is HCD-D170, and it's a 5 disk changer. In case that helps.

Any suggestions?

I expect that most "One For All" or "Radio Shack" brand remotes would do the trick, just not the very cheap ones. You'd be looking for one that supports audio codes.

Give the URC-6131 or URC-6012 a whirl.

You may need to use advanced codes to program some buttons, and you can find those at:
