I'm looking for a remote that can replace the original for my RCA surround sound system, my 2nd attempt at a universal failed.

I was using a Sony RM-V301 universal because when I switched to a Sony TV the RCA remote wouldn't adjust the volume on the reciever when it was programed for the Sony.
The Sony remote worked but half of the functions to change the source inputs on the reciever didn't work.
Now I've gone to a Sanyo TV and the Sony remote doesn't work but the RCA does for the basic functions.
Now the problem is the RCA remote won't control my DVD. They don't even have codes for a DVD player!
I've bought a One For All 8 function with learning but it will only turn my reciever on and off and change the volume.

I'm looking for a somewhat inexpensive universal that will switch my reciever to the DVD when I push the DVD button, the TV when I push the TV button, etc.
Please help! I'm tired of having to push the buttons on the reciever. :(

On the OFA remote, program the DVD device with code 0522, point it at your receiver and press the dvd power botton. Does it change your receiver to the dvd input from another input?

After hours of messing with the All In One I finally got it figured out. Come to find out the batteries in my original RCA remote were weak (it would still control the surround though) and the All in one couldn't "see" it to learn the functions. Swapped in some now batteries, got the thing all programmed and now it'll do every function I need.

Thanks anyway! :)

I need one. Are you still using it or have you found a replacement for it. Do you know where I can get one for my RT2250 RCA receiver. It's te only one that will operate it.

This reply is specifically to edmund. Why are you still holding on to the remote I sent you? I sent it to you in good faith. When I try to e-mail you, it comes back as undeliverable. According to the forum you have been around here for quite a while. If you dont intend on sending the remote back let me know. It will cost me sixty dollars to replace it. If anyone else reads this, I sent a remote to Edmund so that he would exract the codes, not only to help me but anyone else with a similar remote. I sent it to him in good faith and now I cant even e-mail him. Beware of who you deal with on the internet. Out sixty dollars and hopefully a little smarter! Oh yeah, Merry Christmas!

I have emailed 3 times asking for your return address, which you didn't include with remote. Yes I have had trouble with email address in my profile, but you have my other email address and have used it before with no trouble. big ed from md at verizon . net

If that is the email giving you trouble, then try the one in my profile again.

What kind of person sends something to a complete stranger and doesn't include a return address? I'm curious as to how you were expecting Edmund to figure out where to send the remote.

And for what it's worth, I can vouch for Edmund 100% and I've been around here even longer than he has.

Hey Edmund, are you a JP1 user now? If not, how were you going to capture the signals for him?
Rob.
