I bought an Samsung wide screen TV (TXN3071WHF) that was open-box and did not include the original remote. I have a remote that handles the basic TV functions but there are some advanced feature buttons on the original remote that I want to have. One advanced feature button (p-mode) cycles through the 4:3, wide, panoramic, and zoom video modes. Without this advanced feature button I have to go through the on-screen menu which takes about ten button pushes.

I found that I can purchase the original remote (Samsung AA59-00251B) online for about $50. But it appears to have limited universal functionality and won't handle my other system components. So I'm considering other universal remotes.

I also have a Pioneer AV Reveiver (SAHE100), Sampo DVD (DVE-620), and RCA VCR (whatever).

Is it likely that there is a universal remote that will be preprogrammed with my TV's advanced feature remote codes (P-mode, S-mode, etc.)? If not, what is the possibility of teaching the universal remote the advanced features when I don't have the original remote to learn from? Can universal remote codes be downloaded and programmed into the remote like ringtones for a cell phone?

Thanks for your advice.

might be, if you want to go on the cheap side, look at www.hifi-remote.com to see if the UEI DB has those codes.

only if it is PC programmable and someone has a file you can use

Can universal remote codes be downloaded and programmed into the remote like ringtones for a cell phone?

depends on the remote some of the higher end remotes yes (a config file from a PC) Also some OFA remotes have the possibility of becoming PC programmable, by building or buying a JP1 cable
