I have a zenith universal remote (zn-311)(inside near the batteries it says....zen425b)it can control 3-devices....it is an old one....
anyway, we can not figure out how to turn off the closed caption feature on our tv....
we have the code for our tv...that is set fine...we just can't figure out how to turn off the words that come onto the screen everytime someone talks....
not sure how we got it there, or how to turn it off.
would appreciate any help.

Most tv's you enter the menu system and navigate to turn on/off CC. It may take some searching to find it, but it's usually there somewhere. Try hitting "menu" on the remote and navigate around.

You didn't happen to get or change cable boxes or sat receiver lately did you? Like about the time the CC started coming up? If so, it may be in the box's menu.
Do you have the oem TV remote? Look for something called display or info os something else relatively close.

It happened to me before and I was not able to turn off CC before realizing the problem was coming from the channel broadcasting!
Do you have the same problem for all channels that offer CC?
Just a thought.
