I have a Onkyo TX-DS 555 receiver, a Hitachi big screen tv, RCA DSS Sat. receiver, Hitachi VCR. Looking for one remote to work everything. Presently, TV remote will turn on the rca dss but won't turn it off. Will turn on the receiver but can't adjust the sound with the volume buttons. The remote for the receiver is unhandy to use as the buttons are too close together and does not have the buttons need for the sat receiver. Can anyone help?

If you want an unbiased opinion on universal remote controls, you should check the reviews section of this site. There are MANY options for you to control you system. It really depends on your preferences. Do you like hard buttons, ro touchscreens? Do you prefer computer programmability? Personally, I would recomend the something in the MX series liks a 500 or a 700. But i'm sure others would also make other suggestions. Like I said before, try to decide what your preferences are, then research those remotes to find the best one.

also how much are you willing to spend, universal remotes go from 30$ to 2000$ and beyond for stuff that in my book are beyond remotes
