Folks,

Look at the following link:

[Link: homeautomationnet.com]

It looks like you can replace a AA sized battery inside any IR remote to enable it for RF transmition to a commad center for IR duplication. It also looks like the "module" that replaces a AA sized battery is working on a AAA sized battery.

How is that working? The AA sized "module" does not see the IR transmition of the remote. Am I missing something here?

If it really works as advertised, this should be a great product!

Martin :-)

It's not AAA, but a different (hot regular) type of battery. It has been discussed before under several brands, and I think it was in what's new like two years ago. If I remember correctly its either the IR emitters or some of the electronics that makes them work that emit some kind of electromagnetic pulse that this thing understands and sends as RF. Also If I remember correctly, some said that it will not work with remotes that have screens, since the screens cause too much interference

You're right Anthony, the web site just added the following caution:

"...Please Note: We have tested this product in a number of remotes and it works perfectly with one exception. In remotes with large LCD touchscreens (like Philips Pronto) there seems to be an interference problem caused by the touchscreen. In the 10 units tested it worked in perfectly in only 4, so we do not recomend this product with Large LCD touchscreens remotes. In all others it has worked perfectly...".

It looked like a new product to me - don't recall seeing something similar before.
