after reading miles of threads trying to find info i can use....i noticed that there is alot people having trouble obtaining codes/info about samsung dss or dtv boxes and universal or after-market remote controls.
why is that? well i have samsung sir-s60 dtv set top box and have tried a general electric universal six-in-one remote rc-94926-a, and a phillips/magnavox pm525s remote.....both work great with my old zenith 23" tv, and my fisher vcr, but refuse to work with my samsung dtv box. and the original samsung remote i never recieved as the box is a loner from a friend....he never had the remote either.
any help with codes that will work one of these remotes, or which universal remote will work with the SIR-S60 box would be greatfull.
thanks

What you need is a remote that's newer than the sat, most remotes on the market were there before samsung started selling sats. If you get a ofa remote like the 8910, if it doesn't have code, it can be loaded over the phone.

first, i'd like to say "thanks" for the fast reply edmund....after almost ten years of catv installs, and 3-4 years of c-band and ("primestar" eeeeeyuk!!!)i've never had so much trouble programming a remote! the PM525S i just bought today new at Lowe's ......as per a thread concerning a different but almost same-same samsung dss box.
what did you mean by "ofa remote like the 8910,.... and can be loaded over the phone???

The brand name of the remote is "One-For-All", the model # is urc-8910. It has a modom, you call UEI, the maker of ofa remotes, you put the remote upto the phone to load any codes that are missing from the preprogrammed list. I don't have samsung, but the 8910 might have code.
