I just purchased a Philips DVDR80 DVD recorder, and, contrary to its ads, the recorder does not allow for unattended sat recordings. Does anyone know of a remote that will change the channel of my sat receiver when I am away. I know the discontinued Universal "One For All" model number URC-6885 used to have this capability. Any remotes out there that can still perform this function? Very much appreciated if somebody could answer this question. Thank you very much!!!

The discontinued OFA "Producer 8" remotes could do this too. As for current remotes, the only one I can think of is the Radio Shack "VCR PRogrammer" model # 15-1996.

Thank you very much for the post. I have looked far and wide for this info, and nobody else had a clue! In fact, most people do not even understand the concept. I am sure if I called Radio Shack, the salesmen there would not even know the capabiites of the remote for unattended satellite recordings. Now if it just has the code for my first generation RCA satellite receiver!

Radio Shack saleswoman told me that over the phone they had the remote in stock, but she was clueless of its capability for unattended satellite recordings. Well, just went to the store, and, sure enough, Radio Shack did not have this remote. The manager told me that it had been discontiinued two years ago! Suggestions now? Thanks.

I recently saw it at RS near me, so just don't try one RS, try them all.

... and have them look on the computer to see if any other stores have it. Click on the picture to see if it has a code for your SAT box before you go to too much effort to find it.

Btw, it's listed as still being available on the RS web site.
