I have an RCA universal remote, the RCU810, and have run out of memory. I love the layout of the remote and am uncomfortable switching to a new remote. However, due to the limited memory capability I have no choice, but to upgrade my remote. Before I go out and spend $100 plus for a new remote I wanted to ask your advice on which remotes would support my need for increased memory. I am having difficulty because I can't find any memory specifications on universal remote controls. Please help me pick a remote that would meet my need for increased memory.

I would definitely get the HTM MX-500, it replaces ten devices, it has enough memory for you to teach a command to each button in each device. And still have memory left over. It costs about $112 or so.

If you really like the RCU810 you don't have to go and spend over a hundred bucks on an MX500, all you need to do is buy a $15 JP1 cable.

The problem with the RCU810 is just that it has limited "learning" memory. It has a huge chunk of memory that is not accessible to the normal user, but is accessible to the JP1 user. You can use this memory to create upgrades for all of your devices, plus you can use "key moves" which is a feature common to One For All and Radio Shack remotes, but was removed from the RCU810's menu system. However, the functionality is still in the remote, so with JP1 you can use it.
