Hi All!
My pal at work has a Fisher CA854 stereo. It's either an integrated system or an amp. I suspect, without ever having seen the unit, it's older; maybe 10,15 years. He's got no 'net access so here *I* am.
He's lost the remote and cannot operate the unit at all without it.
Should we try for a replacement remote and if so where (I've had no luck this morning doing a websearch)? Or is a universal a better idea? Will the age of the unit affect it's probability of working with a universal?
Many thanks, in advance, for your help.

The remote with the oldest database of codes are the UEI made one-for-all/Radio shack line of remotes. Fisher was bought up by Sanyo, so you have two brands to check. You could also check www.replacementremotes.com they sell used oem remotes.

I just checked the manuals for some pretty old One For All and Radio Shack remotes, and they all list 2 or 3 of the following codes for Fisher: 0042, 0219 and 0360.

The good news is that all three codes are present in the current Radio Shack and One For All remotes (I checked the RS 15-2116 and the OFA URC-8811 series).

So, I think going that route is your best bet.
