I just bough a Sima SUR-25 remote and with my A/V equipment, none of the built in codes seem to work. Any ideas? I don't want to program everything manually

TV:2 year old Sony Wega (KV32FS12)
VCR15 year old Sony VHS (SLV675HF)
VCR215 year old Sony Beta (that's the only one I though I would have to configure manually)
DVD1 year old Sony DVD changer (DVP655P)
REC1 year old Sony HomeTheatre Receiver (STRDE585)

Tanks

I don't know anything about the Sima, but no universal remote has a code for the Sony STRD585 receiver set to AV2 mode. Which is a new code set, AV1 is the only one you'll find in a universal remote. On higher-end receivers you can change the receiver and oem remote to the old set, your's, you can only change the receiver, the oem remote would no longer control it. Best thing you can do is, leave the receiver as-is,and teach the commands to a learning remote.

It is set to AV1. None of the codes work. Even the "auto detect" function can't find any device. Tried to use the learn function. Half the buttons for the TV only are not recognized (nothing fancy here, channel changing and mute). This thing is going back first thing next week. And I might take the plunge (in my wallet...) and buy the Sony AV3000. Since all my gear is Sony anyway...

The SUR-25 is pretty easy to program and shouldn't take you more than an hour to get all your devices done. I suggest going to layout and duplicating all your remotes first and then to the learn function.

I have the SUR-25 and it won't exactly learn all your codes. I have a Philips DVD-724 DVD player and while it seems it learns the codes, it won't work. The remote with this player sends a "toggle" code tacked on the end of the button pressed. The toggle code alternates each time you press a button. IE: When you press the down button on the Philips remote, it sends the down IR sequence along with the toggle code. If you press the down button again, the toggle code changes. The SUR-25 was not designed to handle these toggle codes, so it will learn the down button, along with the ONE toggle code appended to the end of the code sent to it. When you press the learned button on the SUR-25, it will work once. If you press the button again, nothing happens. Also I have an older Technics A/V receiver and the SUR-25 cannot handle the codes that send a discrete on before the desired function (IE: When I press the TV button on my Technics remote, it sends a discrete on, then switches the receiver to TV. The SUR-25 seems to learn the code, but does not perform the function when pressed.)

I have devised work arounds for these problems if anyone is interested, but they're not really user friendly.

Hi, everybody
I tried the search the forum but can't seem to find anybody that have my problem, maybe I did something wrong. I bought a Sima (sur-25), learned all the functions from my Dishnetwork remote (PVR). I was able to use all the hard buttons without any problem, but when I tried to use the soft buttons to change the channels the whole thing just froze up ( the OK sign on top of the screen stay on until I remove the batteries ). So I took it back to Circuit City, got another one and guess what? Yes! same problem. I'm on the third now.....Please, help! What did i miss?????
