I recently purchased an RCU810 to allow my hughes DSS receiver to work (all other equip is RCA - DVD, VCR, and RT2500 receiver). The problem I am having is that when I set the SAT to the Hughes code, the receiver no longer changes to SAT. I'm WAY new at all this stuff so if I'm being stupid, tell me nicely.

The RCU810 has a new feature not found in other remotes made by UEIC, in that the device buttons themsleves sometimes send out an IR signal. This is because of how RCA programs their stuff.

When you program a code for an RCA device into the RCU810, the device buton is programmed with the correct code to select the input on an RCA receiver. So, when you programmed the code for a non-RCA sat dish, the input select code disappeared.

You're best bet is to learn the SAT input select button from your receivers remote to one of the learning buttons (or any spare button) on the RCU810.

Thanks. Last night I "IR learned" all the commands from my Hughes DSS remote for Directv. Duh! I'll have to try this tonight, but it makes sense that I should be able to set the SAT code to Hughes giving me all the internal codes for the remote and then learn the IR command for the SAT button itself (and maybe the +/- volume buttons) from the RCA remote that came with the 2500.

If you want to get really fancy with this remote, you can re-program it using JP1. This might be a good option if you run out of learning memory.

I looked at that. Right now with everything being RCA, it took all of the SAT commands including the number pad, clear, info, etc and still had room. Seems to be a pretty good fit for what I'm using it for. I did notice one other person in here talking about the clock. Mine does the exact same thing, set it, look a couple of hours later, it's back to 12:00AM. I may exchange it or just live the it.
