Hello-

I have a RCA RCU1000B, and I sort of like it. I'm considering getting a Sony RMAV2100, but I don't really see what's any better about it - only difference is, the RMAV2100 is hard to hold, and is twice the price. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Why are you even considering the switch, what does the RCA lack that the Sony might have?

If you like the general design of the RCA, you might also want to check out the uCommand remotes, such as the UC515, etc. There's a new remote on the market sold by Radio Shack, model number 15-2107, which is an 8 device touchscreen and sells for $150. It's made by UEIC which means you get all of the normal UEIC functionality, including key mover and learning. Plus, you can upgrade it using JP1. So if you're looking for a touchscreen it might be worth checking out.

I bought and returned the RCU1000b.

1. Screen contrast was lousy.
2. Button labels can't be modified freely. So you get to choose from 2-4 lables for each button and these lables are "bound" to specific buttons!
3. RAN OUT OF MEMORY AFTER LEARNING ABOUT 20 BUTTONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4. Requires two hand operation, too big and heavy, have to look at the screen to see which button your pushing. I'd rather use my $20 Cinima 7 remote, it's comfortable!

I finally returned it and bought the ProntoNeo for $180 (open box) at Best Buy. It's AWESOME in every way except for one. Everytime you create new buttons on your PC and download them to the remote, you have relearn buttons again. This should be fixed soon when they offer "upload software".

Also. The Universal Home Theater mx-500 looks awesome for $112.00 on Yahoo Shopping.
