Is there a universal remote that can learn or knows the bose FM remote and would also be able to learn my other IR remotes?

Probably Dreaming, just thought I would check.

Most all learning remotes will work if you use a Bose IR to RF translator in your system and can get your hands on the Bose IR codes. Try contacting your local Bose custom installer.

I just received an official reply from Bose this morning. My initial question and their response is below:

Q: I hear rumors of a Bose Infrared/Radio Frequency converter that will allow Bose RF systems to understand signals from IR universal remote controls. Does this in fact exist? If so, where can I purchase one and how much is the suggested retail price? Thank you for your time and attention! -Bruce

Bruce,

The only RF remotes that would be able to operate the Lifestyle system start at about $1000.00. If you are interested in this type of remote, you might start with Crestron. Versatile but expensive.

Thank you for choosing Bose Corporation.

Hello,

There is a simple way to control Bose Lifestyle systems of any type, using learning remote controls like the Pronto. If anyone is still interested in learning how, please E-mail me directly.

Regards,

I don't care, because I'll *never* use a Bose system, and if a client wants one, I'll convince them otherwise :-)

But, why not just tell us, here? If it's something you want to sell, just say that too...

Davide: you could have just posted it once in a new thread. You did not have to do a search on BOse and revive a bunch of old ones.

Some of the Lifestyle models have a serial port -- which is what Crestron uses to control them. You (theoretically) could use an IR-to-Serial adapter to control them. Xantech makes an interface, model# IRS232, or an Ocelot might also work. The Ocelot would also allow you to send X-10 commands.

I think the Bose uses RS-422 though, but an adapter should fix that...
