I'm sure people ask this question a lot, but any help is appreciated... I have a relatively small number of devices, but like the idea of having a single remote. Really all I need to control is my Toshiba tv, Toshiba dvd, JVC HT receiver, and Sharp vcr. I like the Sony AV2100's looks, and the price is certainly right at $100. But I'm wondering if I shouldn't spring for a higher end model like the Pronto or HK or one of the others. There seem to be a lot of choices... Can you program the Sony so that the channel control hard buttons run the TV while the volume hard buttons control the receiver? That seems like a no-brainer, but you know how quirky electronics can get. I'm really at a bit of a loss to know where to begin in order to make my decision. Thanks.

Glenn Try reading some of the reviews (click reviews at the top of the screen. All your answers will be there. It is hard for anyone to decide what you would like most.

Hi!

I'm Jenny. I'm 12 years old and in 1st year high school. I only wanted to ask you some questions to you about my study in our investigatory proposal in our school. My study is REMOTE CONTROL (FLOURESCENT LIGHT) My first question is:

1. What can you find inside a remote control?
2. What is that device that can switch on the flourescent light using the remote control?
3. What do you call an object that reflects a light like in the T.V. the one that you call the "Servo Control"?

Glenn,
If you like touchscreen remotes and don't mind spending a few bucks, then you should get the Pronto as you can totally customize it to do whatever you want and there's a wealth of information waiting for you over in the Pronto forum right here at Remote Central.

If you'd prefer a buttoned remote that you can program almost all of the buttons from your original remotes, you should check out the 15-1994 from Radio Shack, it only costs $30. Check out the info on my site to show you just how much this one remote can do.

Thanks Rob.

Do you happen to know if any of the big electronics stores carry these touch screen remotes? I'd love to be able to compare them in 3-D before spending the money. I definitely want a touchscreen system, not a simple hard button remote. I've read a lot of the reviews here and I guess all of the various choices have their advantages and drawbacks.

BEst Buy did start carrying the Pronto at one point, but I don't know if they still have it, you can also get it at higher end audio stores, like United Audio.

But be warned that the retail price of the Pronto is $399, if you get it on the web you can get it for as low as $265. In fact, etronixs.com were selling them for that price with free shipping, but I don't see it listed on their site anymore, so you might want to call them and see if they still have it.

Rob.
