I just ordered the Marantz RC2000 Mark 2 from Stereo Trading outlet for $191.00 shipped.They have the Philips Pronto with docking station for $339.00 shipped.Is it worth spending the extra$150.00 for the Pronto.I currently have a Yamaha 2092,Sony DVD,Sony VCR,RCA 56inch TV.

That really depends on what you want to do. If you must have real physical buttons, the RC2000 MkII is the best you can get. However, the best universal remote for under $1000 is the Philips Pronto or Marantz RC5000 (same thing), period.

The RC2000's title of "remote of the gods" was usurped last year!

I had to make the same choice between the the RC2000II and Pronto.

I chose the RC2000, the physical buttons makes a huge difference to useablity in Home Threatre use.

It would be great if Marantz takes what's good about the RC2000 and RC5000(Pronto) and makes an RC7000 which would be a wider RC2000 with the larger active LCD panel from the Pronto and all the brains.

I agree with Jonathan. I, too, made the choice between the 2000 and the Pronto. Two things that could be improved: I would like to be able to program it from a computer and I wish every button could hold a macro. Otherwise I love it. Real buttons make it easy to use.
