I just got a SL-9000 remote and it is great, but it will not learn anything from my Kenwood VR-209 receiver's remote commands. I tried all distances, and pressing long and short, but it will NOT learn anything. Preprogrammed, I have the power button, mute, volume, and listen mode. That is it. I tried getting in touch w/ both Kenwood and universal, but no response. Can anyone help?

Have you tried Universal's 800 number, 800-901-0800? I've had pretty good success there. Honestly though, from what I've found out about that receiver model I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work.

Brian, could you let me know how it turns out? I am thinking of buying the 209 and would like to hear the outcome. Thanks.

I talked to tech support at Universal Remote and they are going to do an upgrade, free of charge to get the Kenwood receiver to work with the SL-9000. They were extremely helpful. Would receommend this remote to anyone. My wife could figure out how to use it w/o me having to show her anything.

Phil, I would receommend the VR-209 receiver even if UR couldn't do anything for me. The receiver is "INCREDIBLE" for the cost of it from www.spidergear.com ($199+s/h) I even had my friend who was has a very Hi-End system convert to Dolby Digital, don't tell him but I think my Kenwood sounds as good as his system. Worth a lot more than I paid for it, and I would have if it was more.

Well, I got the remote back from Universal Remotes today and it now works my Kenwood VR-209. They overnighted it back to me when it was finished and the best thing, NO Charge!! This SL-9000 now works my whole A/V system!!!
