Hi, I might buy a universal remote but apparently the prices are really higher here in Europe. So if I find a good remote (I'm planning to buy the sony since I only have 4 equipements to control and a small budget) at a good price on an american website: can I buy it?

I mean are the IR codes in Europe and America similar or at least compatible (since all my equipement is Sony I would like to be able to use the preprogrammed functions)?

Thanks

There are no differences in Europe or American IR codes, however some button labels may be different. If there are specific US/Europe models for the remote you are looking at, it's possible features like "Teletext" or "Fastext" won't be included on the US version.
