A new firmware is available at the Philips site; number 2.0.80
I uploaded it and have following comments:
1) The unit was not recognised when I followed standard procedure (I connected the usb cable under XP, but nothing happened) Only when I switched of the RC9800 unit and pressed home & page during power on I was able to get the unit noticed under XP as a hard disc. Using this procedure meant that I lost all my settings and I now have to start all over again with programming.
2) I have no idea which changes have been made. There are no firmware release notes and I have not seen any chances sofar.
All and all a very unproffessional approach from Philips. I am starting to loose faith in this thing and I think I will return it next week, which basically is a shame really.

I also updated the firmware, but had not the above mentioned problems. I also wondering what the changes are and I have not found any so far. Maybe Philips can help us out of the blue.

USB will only be recognised after you connected the USB cable AND pressed the "USB update" and "ok" buttons (in "settings","services setup","software updates"). In normal operation mode the USB port is disabled.

The biggest change is being able to customize user buttons

Just a clarification on the new firmware -- I only noticed that the latest firmware allows you to rename only the custom function keys (which are accessible not through activities but though the individual device control -- a pain to actually use if you ask me). Are you saying that you can rename the user buttons on each screen? If so, please tell how you accomplished that because that fucntion is much needed.
