I have recenlty purchased a RC-9800i they are very good but have a problem with updating the firmware on to the lastest version. The extractor program detects the RC-9800i unitl fine but when it comes to transfer the fireware then it says "Trasnfer has been intrupted" and closes. I have a suspicion that it is something to do Vista that I am running on the box. I think this is also the reason why I can't connect to this comuter as a media server via the RC-9800i. I have disabled the firewall and it is still not working. Anyone else got simlar problems/a solution or is it just a case of using an XP box

Ok fixed the Firware problem by using an XP SP2 computer but still unable to connect to Philips Media Centre on a vista machine with the RC9800i

I had this problem. What i did was use Winrar to extract the contents of the updater file. I then started up the process of connecting the remote to my computer. You will notice a new drive appear. I took the file (I can't remember the name of it now...but its the largest file that you extracted) and manually drug it over to the remote. I then ran the updater as normal, got the interupted message, unplugged the remote and restarted it and it upgraded from the firmware file I drug over there.

So basically...the best thing to do is go to a XP computer. It took ALOT of playing around to get it to work and there is a chacne I am missing a step there.

As for Philips media Manager. I think the best fix for that is to install Tversity and remove PMM. All problems I had with any of my Philips streaming products ended when I did that.
